The newly launched 2018 Cadillac CT6 is the embodiment of the values of Cadillac in a modern, class-leading package. Bold, distinctive design, the use of lightweight materials throughout the body, and advanced onboard technology come together to make an exceptional alternative in the large luxury car segment. Let’s take a closer look at exactly what makes this Caddy so great.

Advanced Body Structure

The structure of the 2018 Cadillac CT6 is aluminium-intensive with as many as 11 different materials incorporated for specific areas of the car. The company specifically engineered the alloys used in the chassis to advance driving dynamics, fuel efficiency, and sound damping.

Vehicle Dynamics

The big CT6 is designed to deliver an engaging driving experience whilst being equally refined and silent on the move. It gets switchable driving modes, Active Rear Steer, Magnetic Ride Control suspension, and other advanced tech besides. Cadillac claims it offers segment-best ride, handling, and isolation qualities using the cohesive web of electronics on board.

Entertainment

The 2018 CT6 gets a 10.2-inch touchscreen that takes care of in-car entertainment. In a very thoughtful measure, Cadillac has provided the infotainment system of the CT6 with USB as well as HDMI ports. The car also backs up heavy smartphone usage with wireless inductive charging capability. With connectivity and convenience sorted, what else does the 2018 CT6 bring to the table? Well, there’s a 34-speaker Bose Panaray Sound System that allows each passenger to revel in crystal-clear, thumping music. We can’t think of 34 locations to stuff speakers in, but apparently, the system is an absolute blast.

Rear Camera Mirror

The inner rearview mirror of the luxury sedan doubles up as an LCD screen. It streams HD video from the rear camera, providing 300% increased vision. The screen switches back to the regular mirror quite easily.

Connectivity

The next-generation Cadillac User Experience system (CUE) can now recognize the driver’s accent and style of talking. This way, drivers can issue simple commands to the car allowing them to focus on the road ahead. The 2018 CT6 also comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, enabling navigation and hands-free text messaging.

Pedestrian Safety

The 2018 Cadillac CT6 gets an advanced system that uses seven cameras to detect pedestrians or obstacles and activates a range of alerts and indicators accordingly. The car will also auto-apply brakes if it senses an imminent collision. Though the car only auto-brake up to certain speeds, the Pedestrian Detection is still immensely helpful in avoiding minor run-ins on urban roads.

Surround Vision

The seven onboard cameras also serve another purpose. Together, they map the entire surface area of the CT6. Various systems such as Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Detector, and Night Vision work in conjunction with the data gathered by the cameras. Four of the seven cameras come on and record the vehicle’s surroundings if a sensor detects motion near the Caddy.

Auto Vehicle Hold

This rather clever function prevents the car from moving either way when the driver lifts his foot off the brake. This feature comes in handy when tackling steeply inclined roads whether ascending or descending. Its real usefulness is during long traffic jams, as it massively reduces the pressure on your brake foot.

Vehicle Autonomy

Featuring on the 2018 Cadillac CT6, Super Cruise is a virtually hands-free driving assist for the freeway. It does not end here. Cadillac also offers a plug-in hybrid versionof the new CT6, in keeping with its vision of producing zero emissions vehicles in the near future.

There’s so much technology that has gone into the building of this car as well as that which is present on board, the 2018 Cadillac CT6 is kind of an engineering marvel. Right from the materials used to build the car, to systems and tech that make the occupants safer while keeping them entertained, the new CT6 has all bases covered.
