Al-Futtaim Lexus has launched the all-new RX luxury crossover in the United Arab Emirates. The fifth-generation RX has undergone a complete redesign to offer more style, comfort, and better performance than ever before. The new RX is built on Lexus’ Global Architecture K (GA-K) platform.

Launched for the first time in 1998, the Lexus RX established the standard for luxury crossover SUVs and has dominated the market ever since. The 1998 Lexus RX 300 was the world’s first luxury crossover, while the 2006 Lexus RX 400h became the world’s first hybrid electric luxury crossover.

Technical Details of the all-new Lexus RX

The 2023 Lexus RX is available with a choice of three engine options, out of which two are hybrids, it comes as part of the ‘Lexus Electrified’ vision announced in 2019 as the brand aims to achieve significant performance improvements through electrification technologies. The company is on track to achieve a full lineup of electrified vehicles in all categories by 2030 and aims to sell 100 per cent BEVs globally by 2035. The vehicle features a new MacPherson strut suspension at the front and a new multi-link suspension system at the rear.

Engine Options

The Lexus RX luxury SUV gets three powertrain options:

1) The RX 350 comes with a newly developed inline 2.4-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces 275 horsepower and 430Nm of torque and ‎is mated to a new 8-speed Direct-Shift automatic transmission.

2) The RX 350h gets the new hybrid electric system that combines a 2.5-liter petrol engine and electric motor and generates a total of 246 horsepower, which is paired to an electronically-controlled Continuously Variable Transmission (E-CVT) and provides a fuel efficiency of 20.7 kmpl.

3) The RX 500h F SPORT Performance features the first-ever turbo plug-in hybrid system that pairs a 2.4-liter turbocharged engine with an electric motor is also available, which generates a combined power output of 366 horsepower mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission that offers fuel efficiency of 15.5 kmpl.

Interior Details on the 2023 Lexus RX

The interior of the RX is luxurious and comfortable. The SUV features a new 14-inch touchscreen multimedia system, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, a 7-inch colour multi-information display (MID), a colour head-up display (HUD) and a 21-speaker sound system from Mark Levinson. The fifth-generation RX is also the first-ever model in the range to feature Lexus Connect. It also gets ambient lighting, wireless as well as USB charging.

The interior comes in a choice of four elegant colours, including the newly developed DK. Sepia, a newly available Hazel option, Black and Fromage. The RX also gets a panoramic roof with movable outer sliding glass for the front section.

The new RX’s spacious interior offers ample luggage space and five newly designed luxury seats with excellent legroom, including an 8-way adjustable powered driver seat. Thanks to an intelligent tailgate design, the boot space is now 50 mm longer. the new Lexus RX also gets an electrically powered back door that can be activated by a foot gesture under the tailgate.

The cabin of the RX 500h F SPORT Performance features Dark Spin Aluminum decoration, a unique meter, bolstered sports seats, a steering wheel with paddle shifters, and aluminium pedals and scuff plates. The RX 500h additionally gets the new DIRECT4 all-wheel drive force system, which effectively maximizes front and rear wheel grip to deliver an invigorating and torque-filled driving experience. It also gets an exclusive interior in Dark Rose and Black colour.

Exterior Details on the all-new RX luxury crossover

Lexus has given a more dynamic, elegant, and confident character to the 2023 RX. The SUV gets a sleeker silhouette that creates a coupé-like feel.

The triple LED headlights are sleeker and more horizontal. The borders of the body and spindle grille merge together creating a seamless expression. A new Lexus insignia has been added to the tailgate, enhancing the car’s clean and modern appearance. Single-line Lexus characteristic taillights at the rear underline the vehicle’s iconic shape. The wider track provides the vehicle with a bolder stance and increased road presence.

The 2023 Lexus RX offers a range of nine distinctive exterior colours for customers to choose from, including the newly developed Sonic Copper. Four new wheel designs have also been introduced by Lexus, including dark grey metallic and bright machined finish 19-inch aluminium wheels and a choice of three different 21-inch options.

The RX 500h F SPORT Performance variant boasts exclusive exterior features, including a special ‘F’ mesh-pattern grille, a new front bumper design, black roof rails, and 21-inch aluminium wheels. It exclusively offers six exterior colour options, including Heat Blue CL and White Nova GF.

Safety Features in the all-new Lexus RX

The 2023 RX comes equipped with the Lexus Safety System+ that includes a Pre-Collision System (PCS), Emergency Steering
Assist, Acceleration Suppression at Low Speed, Intersection Collision Avoidance Assistance, etc. The system also includes all-speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC).

The RX also gets comprehensive safety features including seven SRS airbags, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TRC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), Parking Assist Monitor (PAM), Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA), Active Cornering Assist (ACA), Drive-Start Control (DSC), Panoramic View Monitor (PVM), and Hill-start Assist Control (HAC).
