The Land Rover Defender has been crowned the 2021 World Car Design Of The Year. The jury consisted more than 90 international motor journalists from 24 countries and all of them were full of praise of the Defender’s design.

Safety-wise the Land Rover Defender is very good as it has got 5 stars in the Euro NCAP test. The Defender also has a great customer appeal with the SUV available with petrol and diesel engine, a V8 powertrain and also in PHEV form.

Gerry McGovern OBE, Chief Creative Officer, Jaguar Land Rover, said: New Defender is influenced by its past but is not constrained by it and we are delighted it has been honoured with this award. Our vision was to create a 21st century Defender by pushing the boundaries of engineering, technology and design while retaining its renowned DNA and off-road capability. The result is a compelling 4×4 that resonates with customers on an emotional level.

This latest award means that the Defender has now won 53 international awards. WOW

And it wasn’t only Land Rover that has taken home awards. In the other awards, VW took home the World Car of the Year award with the ID.4, the Mercedes S-Class was named the World Luxury car, the Honda E was crowned the World Urban Car, and the Porsche 911 Turbo took home the World Performance Car award.
