It wasn't long ago when the automotive industry, and the other part of the world, was cheering on the occasion of Bugatti Chiron setting an astonishing new world record of doing a 0-400-0 kph in just 42 seconds.
While everyone was celebrating and dancing to the tunes, some clever and dedicated men with hats at Koenigsegg took this event as a challenge and decided to show the world who the real boss is. The Koenigsegg Agera RS puts the Chiron into dust by breaking its record of doing the 0-400-0 kph run, and has set a new one of a mere 36.44 seconds! That is over five seconds quicker than the Chiron! It hurts, doesn't it Bugatti? Watch the Agera do the miracle run in the official video below.
Speaking to Topgear.com, Koenigsegg said that they were planning to do this run between 30th Sept and 2nd Oct and the decided venue was the Papenburg test track in Germany. But because of unfortunate weather conditions, they had to cancel that. However, their spies found a new place to get done with the run once and for all, it was at Vandel in southern Scandinavia.
So, the new track was only 2.8 km long. It did have a clear grass run-off area but still, it would have been much safer if it had been tarmac for some more metres. And to make matter more interesting, the track was not perfectly smooth, it had slight bumps, pot-holes, etc. But Koenigsegg decided to do the run anyway.
The car in action was a Koenigsegg Agera RS that was already been sold to a customer in the USA. And the owner was pretty cool with the fact that his car will be driven nuts by a professional driver (Niklas Lilja) to 400 kph. Quite a big-hearted, mate, isn't he? Well, so the plan was set and after a few test runs, Niklas took off to set a new record.
The Agera RS hit the 400 kph mark in 26.88 seconds and covered a distance of 1.9 km. To compare here, the Chiron attained 400 kph in 32.6 seconds over a distance of 2.6 km. As soon as the RS reached the 400 kph, Niklas slammed the brakes and within a few blinks of an eye, he came to a halt. It took him 9.56 seconds and 483 m. The Chiron did it in 9.3 seconds over 491 m.
Koenigsegg says, “A result like this does not just happen.
