International Road Transport Union World Congress To Take Place In Oman

Oman will host trade, transport, and logistics experts across the globe at the upcoming International Road Transport Union (IRU) World Congress. The featured title of the gathering is ‘Innovation On The Move’.

The IRU World Congress is scheduled from the 6th to the 8th of November at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre. Government ministers, business executives, and logistics experts will come together under a single roof to discuss and explore innovative solutions on road transport and trade.

His Highness Sayyid Asaad bin Tariq Al Said, the Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations and Cooperation Affairs and Personal Representative of His Majesty the Sultan of Oman will oversee the proceedings at the IRU World Congress. Organized by IRU, the event is also co-hosted by ASYAD Group and the Ministry of Transport and Communications, Oman.

Speakers at the event include André Borschberg, co-founder, CEO, and Pilot of Solar Impulse, Dr Rand Hindi, entrepreneur and Founder of Snips.ai, Jim Carroll, futurist and innovation expert, Abdul Malik Al Balushi, CEO of Oman Post, and Ahmed Al Balushi, CEO of Mwasalat. Over 60 industry speakers will be sharing their insights and proposals at the IRU-WC.

The global delegate list is expected to cross 1,000 attendees from over 100 countries. Prominent firms like Volvo, Mercedes-Benz, AXA, MAN, IBM, and PWC will be joined by transport associations from more than 30 countries including Belgium, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Sweden, Switzerland, UAE, and the UK.

“As Oman’s flagship logistics group, this event will further support our efforts to lead the implementation of the Sultanate’s Logistics Strategy 2040 and raise Oman’s logistics’ profile on the global stage. This event brings renowned experts and high-profile speakers together to examine the challenges and create solutions affecting the world’s transport and trade networks,” said Group CEO of ASYAD Abdulrahman Al Hatmi. He is also a member of the IRU World Congress organising committee.

The event will be a mix of showcases from key players in the industry as well as plenary sessions focusing on innovation, governance, and business processes. To complement the sessions, the event also features an innovation alley including a startup competition hosted and sponsored by Road Ventures SA.
