Hyundai To Unveil The Palisade At 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show
Hyundai has been hinting bits and pieces about what’s about to go down at the LA Auto Show this month. However, in a not-so-revealing revelation, the company confirmed its plans of unveiling its new flagship three-row SUV on November 28 at the expo.
Christened as the Palisade, the new SUV is named in reference to the imposing Pacific Palisades portion of California’s Sierra Nevada mountain range. “The future Palisade SUV will convey a bold exterior that commands attention and has strong inherent imagery of safety and security, especially important with parents with growing families and active lifestyles,” according to Hyundai
A few images that were teased recently gives us a small estimate of the tailgate and shape of the upcoming SUV. The company has been tight-lipped about any further plans of the vehicle which means that we still don’t know about the platform underpinning it or if there will be an upscale Genesis version as well.
A Probable Genesis Makeover?
Hyundai’s luxury spin-off brand Genesis which currently does not possess any SUV or crossovers under its nameplate has been lately struggling with its sales due to the market shift of consumer demand from sedans to high seated vehicles. However, the inclusion of Palisade in Genesis’ line-up can be a start for the company’s redemption.
Hyundai rank among the major SUV makers around the world with its current portfolio consisting of the Kona, Tucson, Santa Fe and Santa Fe XL. By far, the Santa Fe XL stands as the biggest SUV by the brand and is available in either six or seven-seat configuration.
The company has stated that the Palisade will hit the showroom in the by the end of 2019 as a 2020 model. The company has not yet announced the price level or the trims that will be offered.
The Palisade is expected to lock horns with the Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe, Dodge Durango, Ford Expedition, Honda Pilot, Nissan Armada, Toyota Sequoia, as well as the Telluride from Kia.
