The 2018 Electric Vehicle Road Trip (EVRT) was flagged off on 18 Jan from Abu Dhabi. The total distance of this 9-day long road trip was over 1,750km covering various parts of the Middle East, and concluding on 26 Jan in Dubai. It had only electric vehicles to accomplish this task. One of those vehicles was the Chevrolet Bolt EV, and it had successfully completed the entire trip without any hiccups.

The first leg of the trip included a drive to Madinat Zayed. The Chevrolet Bolt EV did it easily and still had less than a full battery charge left. It was plugged and charged in no time and was ready to take on the next task of doing a 400km run to Sohar in Oman.

With its incredible 500km-plus driving range, the Bolt EV performed brilliantly during this leg of the trip. It had encountered various real-life situations like driving in city traffic as well as on open high-speed highways, and it excelled in every aspect. Once in Sohar, it was again plugged in to get its 60kWh battery pack juiced up.

The next leg was to cover 200km to reach the Omani capital, Muscat. With its battery fully charged, the Bolt EV could easily cover this distance with more than half of its battery capacity left on reaching the destination.

With the final recharge at Fujairah, it was time for the Chevrolet Bolt EV to embark on the home stretch of the road trip culminating at Dubai Sustainability City via Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain, Ajman and Sharjah. Perhaps the longest distance anyone would reasonably cover in a daily driving situation.

Molly Peck, Chief Marketing Officer at General Motors Middle East, said: “The EVRT Middle East presented the perfect opportunity to put our Chevrolet Bolt EV credentials to the test in real-world regional conditions. This road trip put our vehicle through its paces proving that it is the best-in-class affordable long-range EV in its segment. We are extremely proud to have been EVRT’s Official Vehicle Partner throughout the 1,750km feat. Dedicated to playing a major role in the Middle East’s future mobility revolution we will continue to support the acceleration of EVs across the region.”

The Chevrolet Bolt EV successfully and impressively completed the 1,750km long road trip without a fuss. This tells us how rock solid and dependable it is. It had faced various kind of real-life driving situations and conditions; and tackled all of them. And with its super 500km-plus driving range, it easily covered long stretches without a stop.
