Ford Is Taking Orders On The Bullitt Mustang!

As the day of the launch of the 2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt draws near, the Blue Oval has announced that it is taking orders for the limited-edition pony car.

Ever since Steve McQueen drove the infamous green 1968 Mustang GT in the hit movie ‘Bullitt’ and gave us all a smashing car chase scene involving the very same ‘Stang, the car, as well as the color, has been given the status of legendary by Ford. The year 2019 will be witness to a new Bullitt Mustang setting streets ablaze, for the Blue Oval did indeed announce a limited edition pony car that wears the famous color and the name.

The 2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt puts down 480 hp from its 5.0-liter supercharged V8 power mill. The Bullitt sits between the stock Mustang and the GT350 in terms of power delivery, where the regular Mustang is at the bottom run with 460 hp on tap. The gains in power are mostly due to modifications to the car’ intake, and some performance tuning. A modified intake inducts air and sends it to an 87-millimeter throttle body, which is larger than most ‘Stangs. From here, a GT350-derived intake manifold lets the mixture into the cylinders. A lightly remapped computer and high-octane fuel see the Bullitt put down 570 Nm of pure twist on the tarmac.

A Mustang ain’t a Mustang if it doesn’t devour its tyres at every given opportunity. With the amount of torque the Bullitt commands, tyre shredding is just a hard jab of the throttle away. Also, the glorious soundtrack (courtesy of a blacked-out quad-exhaust) of the V8 is a good match to the dark, brooding design of the car which boasts of a top speed of 262 kph, again more than the stock Mustang, but lower than the GT350, although the difference between the three is not much.

Prospective owners can spec their car in either Dark Highland Green or Shadow Black (Although we strongly recommend the signature green shade). The 2019 Bullitt Mustang gets 19-inch aluminium wheels, Brembo brakes, and a gas cap with the Bullitt logo engraved on it. The green theme continues on the inside with green stitching found on the dashboard, seats, center console, and door panels. Come 2019, and a few lucky owners will have their own piece of the iconic movie car, albeit faster, bigger, and arguably every bit as good-looking as the original Bullitt.
