Godzilla Electrified! Nissan Teased An EV Prototype Of The R32 Skyline GT-R

The sound of the combustion engine and the presence of the exhaust translates to the upcoming Nissan Skyline GT-R R32 EV being a hybrid car.

The Iconic Godzilla is coming back! but in an electrified version. Nissan Japan on its Twitter and Youtube handles has teased the latest prototype of the Skyline GT-R R32 EV.

In the post, Nissan announced that the Japanese carmaker has prepared an EV prototype of the legendary R32 Skyline GT-R, 34 years after its debut. The initiative of the electric powered R32 GT-R began with the desire of an engineer who joined the company because he admired the GT-R, saying, that he wants to build a more exciting car by adding the latest electrification technology that he is involved with, to his favourite car.

The Nissan Engineer said, “By combining the car that I love the most with the technology that I think is the best, we can create a car that people around the world will be more excited about. Please look forward to the day When a new Legend is born!”

What do we know about the Nissan Skyline GT-R R32 EV Concept?

Nissan hasn’t released any details or specifications of the Nissan Skyline R32 GT-R EV Project. But we surely can speculate a few things from the teaser.

The teaser video starts with the illumination of the GT-R’s iconic taillights and the rear stance of the electric R32 can be clearly seen, which is identical to the original R32’s rear design. This tells us that the silhouette and stance of the R32 will also be similar to the Original Godzilla and the iconic design will be unchanged. The sound of the combustion engine and the presence of the exhaust translates to the car being a hybrid vehicle.

The 1989 R32 GT-R was powered by a 2.6-litre RB26DETT twin-turbo straight-six engine with individual throttle bodies that produced 276 horsepower. It was mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and had an all-wheel-drive system.

To generate excitement and hype about the R32 EV project, the automaker has established a dedicated webpage on its Japanese website that hints towards more teasers to be published in the near future.
