The Chevrolet Corvette, popularly known as the Vette, has been around for almost seven decades. During this time frame, it has not only developed a huge fan base, but it also underwent a whole lot of changes. And Chevrolet still is in the process to keep the car upgraded with the latest tech. And soon there’s going to be a mid-engined Corvette.

Chevrolet has been testing its mid-engined Vette for quite some time now. There have been numerous spy shots of the test car in the past. Now there’s a new batch of it that running wild on the Internet.

The test car is still in the early stages of development and therefore it is heavily laden with thick black camouflage. But still, the silhouette gives away the fact that it is a Corvette. What we can see clearly in these images is the quad-exhaust pipes at the back, and the star-design alloy wheels wearing 245/35 ZR19 and 305/30 ZR20 rubbers at the front and back respectively.

Corvette fans and car enthusiasts are already speculating the engine options that Chevy would give in this mid-engined car. As per the discussions, there could be three different engines – a 4.2-liter bi-turbo V8 that would have 650 horsepower, a 5.5-liter bi-turbo with 850 horsepower, and the last but not the least, a 6.2-liter LT1 engine.

There is no solid information regarding when Chevrolet is actually planning to launch the mid-engined Corvette, but rumors suggest that it could see the light of the day in 2019.
