Audi has been building the hype for the next-gen R8. After tons of speculations and predictions, the Volkswagen owned company has finally taken the covers off the new facelifted R8.

We could sum up the new R8 with four words: meaner looks and more power. However, a close look at the car will help you notice new cosmetics such as the newly designed front end with lower and wider-looking grille as well as an additional pair of blades inside vents that is closely related to Audi‘s recent iterations, Q8 SUV and A6.

The 2019 R8 features a new three-part engine cover and three exterior packages that the buyers can choose from. Apart from that, the car now sports fresh paint schemes as well as new seat stitching.

Coming on to the mechanics of the new iteration, Audi promises more power from the engine due to a new tweak. The engine is now available in two output ratings. The almost identical drive technology of the V10 engine in the R8 LMS GT3 and R8 LMS GT4 is put to good use on the racetrack.

The R8 carries the same 5.2-litre naturally aspirated V10 with new valve train components made from titanium. The new engine produces a peak power of 562bhp from the existing 533bhp in the previous model. This calls for a lesser 10tookph time that now clocks at 3.4 and 3.5 seconds for the Coupe and convertible Spyder models respectively.

The previous R8 V10 Plus iteration in the line-up will now become the R8 Performance that develops 612bhp of power. The top speed for both the Coupe and Spyder remains unchanged at 205mph and 204mph respectively.

Audi has reworked the new R8’s steering and suspensions that claims to deliver greater high-speed stability and turn-in precision. Both the iterations are offered with optional dynamic steering and standard electromechanical power steering have been updated.
