Although the new Volvo XC40 falls under the small premium SUV category, it certainly over qualifies for that with its looks. The newly designed front grille along with the aggressive bumper and the mean-look of the headlights with its DRLs make the XC40 one of the striking looking SUVs of its category. Volvo says that there are a plenty of trim options for the exteriors, including an R-design package.
HÃ¥kan Samuelsson, Volvo president and chief executive, said, “The XC40 is our first entry in the small SUV segment, broadening the appeal of the Volvo brand and moving it in a new direction.”
The new XC40 is the first model on Volvo Cars’ new modular vehicle architecture (CMA). Volvo is going to use this platform for all of its future 40 series models which includes electric vehicles as well. Volvo cars are considered as one of the safest cars in the world and the XC40 is no exception. It has got a plethora of safety features like Pilot Assist system, City Safety, Run-off Road protection and mitigation and Cross Traffic alert.
Volvo has certainly taken storage as one of the priorities while designing the new XC40. The SUV has got a plethora of storage spaces inside its cabin; in the doors and under the seats, a special space for phones including inductive charging, a fold-out hook for small bags and a removable waste bin in the tunnel console.
Also present at the launch were Jesus Fernandez de Mesa, Managing Director Volvo Cars EMEA. He said, “The EMEA region is an important one for our company and we have great plans to further develop our presence and offering it. The introduction of the XC40 will be instrumental in that process.”
The XC40 will be offered with a choice of diesel or petrol turbocharged four-cylinder engines, a
T5 petrol four-cylinder Drive-E powertrain, as well as with 3-cylinder, hybrid and fully electric
powertrains later in the production run. Power is delivered via Volvo’s all-wheel-drive system,
keeping the XC40 sure-footed in all-weather conditions.
Volvo is assembling the new XC40 at its plant in Ghent, Belgium. The SUV will be available in showrooms by Feb 2018. If you’re interested in buying one, you can place an order as advance booking in all GCC markets is now open. The price of the new XC40 starts from 170,000 AED and goes up to 185,000 AED.
