For 2018, Porsche has updated its 911 GT3 RS with some extra power and other goodies. The news was ‘accidently’ release on the Internet by a website. Although it was quickly pulled down, it was still too late and the details spread across.

So, what’s new here? Nope, no major engine upgrades. But, yes, a bump in the power figure. The 2018 Porsche 911 GT3 RS will produce 520bhp (20 more than before) from its 4.0-litre, in-line flat-six engine. While every other manufacturer is implementing turbochargers in most of their products, It’s impressive how Porsche manages to extract that much power from a naturally aspirated engine.

Somehow, there’s a special place for naturally aspirated engines, and the melodious soundtrack of such a flat-six is quite unique. To allow the driver to hear more of this track, Porsche has increased the redline of the 2018 911 GT3 RS to 9,000 RPM. It’d scream through the streets with such a wide rev range! However, we still don’t get a manual transmission here and would have to work around with the dual-clutch gearbox.

What else? Porsche has also tweaked the rear wheel steering mechanism a bit to enhance the performance of the car. And there are small aerodynamic and aesthetic changes.
