2021 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid Review | A Segment Defining Crossover
In its first attempt, Toyota Corolla Cross has become a segment-defining crossover SUV with lots of perks and features. The Corolla name strongly resonates amongst the buyers. The world is slowly moving away from the sedans and Toyota realising that, launches the 2021 Corolla Cross hybrid just at the right time.
The Toyota Corolla Cross is 140 mm smaller than the Toyota RAV4 and 170 mm smaller than the Corolla sedan. It borrows a lot of design elements from the RAV4 and Toyota Highlander.
The Corolla Cross Hybrid comes with a 1.8-Litre, 4-cylinder, DOHC engine that produces a modest 96.5 HP and 142 Nm of torque. Since this is a hybrid, there is a permanent magnet synchronous motor mounted in the front that produces 71 HP and 163 Nm of torque. The combined output from this hybrid system comes to 122 HP. This new Corolla Cross delivers a fuel economy of 16.5 to 17.5 kmpl with the use of its hybrid powers unit and a CVT gearbox.
The interiors on the Corolla Cross hybrid is heavily borrowed from the Corolla sedan and Corolla hatchback. it has a 7-inch TFT touch infotainment system.
The Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid rivals the Kia Seltos, Jeep Compass, Hyundai Kona, Nissan Qashqai, Skoda Karoq, Honda HR-V and Mazda CX-30.
