Nissan looks to be on schedule for its biggest unveiling this year: the 2021 Nissan Rogue crossover. Already touted to be one of the most family-friendly cars out there, the Rogue isn’t too far removed from its patent images and spy shots.

Many manufacturers nowadays are going down the split headlamp design path. Hyundai arguably has gotten the feature just right on some of its cars. However, none can do it with as much as finesse as Nissan. The Japanese automaker introduced the design with its Juke over a decade ago.

While the previous Rogue was quite sedate in design, the new iteration spices things up quite a bit. Gone is the understated grille to be replaced by a bold new V-Motion unit. The LED DRL signature ties this crossover with the rest of Nissan SUVs like Patrol and Pathfinder. Out back, the taillights are chunky and the tailgate is new. We expect Nissan to retouch it when the 2021 Rogue goes in for a midlife refresh.

The interior is where the big changes are. New features and design elements dominate the cabin. The Rogue in photos is a Platinum trim level car. It appears to have a dual-tone cabin with black leather and a brown dashboard top. Other quirky features include a flat-bottomed steering wheel, new infotainment tablet and digital instrument console. Nissan is likely to offer induction wireless phone charging with the Rogue.

The Japanese automaker will stick with a few things already aboard the outgoing model. For example, the new Rogue will use the familiar 2.5-litre engine producing close to 190hp. Drivers wanting a bit more punch can opt for the 2.0-litre VC-Turbo inline-four that makes 248hp and 370Nm. The VC-Turbo engine will likely be mated AWD and Xtronic transmission.

Nissan would have debuted the crossover around this time since the New York Auto Show would have been underway. We are expecting Nissan to reveal the Rogue through an online debut in the coming weeks.
