The Toyota Fortuner has been one of Toyota’s bestselling models across the globe. Underpinned by the Hilux platform, this luxury SUV can take you off the beaten path and bring you back safely. No wonder other manufacturers are after the lucrative segment that Toyota rules in the UAE.

The 2020 Toyota Fortuner receives a facelift in the middle of its life cycle and now costs between AED 123,000 and AED 161,000. Here are five other SUVs you can buy for the same dough.

Nissan Pathfinder

Nissan almost always has a rival in place for whatever Toyota is selling in markets they both exist. Here in the UAE, the Nissan Pathfinder serves as an alternative to the Fortuner. Equipped with a 3.5-litre V6 that makes 271hp and 340Nm, it slots right between the three trims that Toyota offers of the Fortuner.

You get the usual creature comforts, driver assistance systems, and safety package with the Pathfinder. Nissan also equips the SUV with its NIM (Nissan Intelligent Mobility) suite that continuously monitors the car’s behaviour and improves the driving experience.

The 2020 Nissan Pathfinder is available starting from AED 135,000 all the way up to AED 175,000. Arabian Automobiles Nissan is the official dealer for Nissan cars in Dubai, Sharjah, and the Northern Emirates.

Hyundai Santa Fe

Hyundai’s long-living full-size SUV, the Santa Fe, was refreshed recently. The SUV’s design is sharp and sleeker than before. And being a Hyundai, you can be sure it is packed to the gills with technology and features.

Two powertrains are available for the Hyundai Santa Fe. The base trim sports a 2.4-litre inline-four engine that makes 188hp and 241Nm. Further up the hierarchy, a 3,5-litre V6 powers the high-end AWD trim, putting down 280hp and 363Nm.

Inside the car’s cabin, Hyundai has provided bright upholstery, dual-zone A/C, steering-mounted audio controls, and a touchscreen infotainment system. The occupants are cocooned in a safety web that includes ABS, traction control, cruise control, hill climb and descent assist, parking sensors and rear parking camera.

The 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe starts from AED 95,000 for the GDI trim, going up to AED 147,300 for the top-end High AWD trim. Juma Al Majid Group of Companies is the exclusive importer and distributor of Hyundai cars in Dubai, Sharjah, and the Northern Emirates.

Kia Telluride

Following the launch of the Hyundai Palisade, Kia debuted its own Telluride SUV to critical acclaim. The full-size SUV has three-row seating, a thumping 3.8-litre V6 engine, and a sumptuously appointed interior. The engine makes 291hp and 355Nm, sending all the horses and torques to all wheels.

At a full five metres in length, the Kia Telluride is like a studio apartment on wheels. Passengers are ensconced in a luxurious space with enough room to move around comfortably. Cruise control and rear air-con vents are standard.

The driver gets safety as well as driving assistance technologies to ease as much of the process as possible. There is cruise control, ABS, traction control, seven airbags, hill ascent and descent assist, various sensors, and tyre pressure monitoring system.

The 2020 Kia Telluride starts at AED 119,000 for the LX trim. Kia cars are imported and distributed exclusively by Juma Al Majid Group of Companies in Dubai, Sharjah and the Northern Emirates.

Cadillac XT4

Cadillac managed to attract a new segment of buyers with its compact luxury crossover, the 2020 Cadillac XT4. This smart SUV uses a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine to drive around, paired to a 9-speed automatic transmission. The engine is capable of producing 237hp and 350Nm.  The range-topping Turbo Sport trim also gets AWD.

With the XT4, Cadillac aims to expose itself to new realms in the automotive industry in terms of price, packaging, and value. The XT4 lends itself well to single owners, couples, as well as young families. Furthermore, it can keep geeks happy too. The SUV sports tech like steering-mounted audio and telephony controls, MID, sunroof, cruise control, and many others.

As for safety, the American SUV features eight airbags in addition to ABS, traction control, hill start assist, and rear parking camera with sensors. Cadillac has smartly packaged a powerful engine and luxurious trims in the car, not to mention a modern safety package.

The 2020 Cadillac XT4 costs from AED 144,800 for the base Luxury trim. Al Ghandi Auto imports and distributes Cadillac cars in Dubai, Sharjah, and the Northern Emirates.
