Earlier this week, GMC confirmed the arrival of the new 2019 Yukon in the Middle East. Compared to the outgoing iteration, the new Yukon comes with more power and better features.

For 2019, the Yukon will have a wider rear track that helps it to be better planted on the road. Additions such as the new electric variable-assist power steering system, 241-mm rear axle and standard automatic locking rear differential, standard StabiliTrak electronic stability control, tow/haul mode, trailer sway control, auto grade braking and hill start assist have made the SUV an apt product to rank among its immediate rivals.

The base SLE and SLT trims will carry a 5.3-litre V8 EcoTec3 engine with direct injection that delivers higher output than the outgoing model at 355hp and 519Nm. A rung up the ladder will give you the Denali models with a 6.2-litre V8 engine that delivers 420hp and 624Nm of torque.

The 5.3L V-8 is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, while the 6.2L in the Denali features a new ten-speed automatic transmission.

The SLE and SLT trims kick things off from AED 191,600, which goes up to AED 322,100 for the Denali XL model. However, before you book one, here are a few alternatives for the 2019 Yukon.

2019 Toyota Land Cruiser

The Toyota Land Cruiser stands as the granddaddy of SUVs in the Middle East. The base EXR trim of the Land Cruiser carries a 4.0-litre V6 DOHC engine that puts out 271hp and 385Nm through a six-speed automatic transmission. Additionally, the eight-seater SUV features a full-time all-wheel-drive getting to 100kph in 11 seconds with a top speed of 200kph.

On the inside, the Land Cruiser gets a 7-inch infotainment system with DVD, USB, AUX and Bluetooth. The 2019 Nissan Patrol begins with a 4.0-litre V6 engine and goes up to a 5.6-litre V8. The all-wheel-drive V6 engine churns out 275hp and 394Nm of torque that cracks a ton in 11.5 seconds. The Patrol reaches up to a maximum speed of 200kph.

The base variant features an infotainment system that includes DVD, Radio, AUX along with four speakers. On the safety front, the Nissan Patrol comes with front airbags for driver and front passenger. Apart from that Nissan has also added notable features such as Anti-Theft device, HDC and Hill-Start Assist with cancel SW, Parking Assist System, Front and Rear Parking Sensors, rear differential locking and tyre pressure monitoring system.

2019 Chevrolet Tahoe

The Tahoe has been a pleaser in Chevrolet’s portfolio, the subtle looks have won a significant chunk of the full-sized SUV segment in the UAE. It is powered by the same 5.3-litre EcoTec V8 engine as the Yukon and delivers 355hp and 383Nm of torque through a six-speed automatic transmission. The Tahoe can crack a ton in about 9.5 seconds along with a top speed of 172kph.

The base LS trim of Tahoe comes to an equipped infotainment system with Chevrolet MyLink featuring radio, CD player, USB, SD card reader and AUX. Other notable features of the Tahoe include tri-zone Climate control and cruise control.

It is needless to say that the three available engines on Dodge’s Durango function in three different segments. The seven-seating SUV starts with a 3.6-litre V6 engine that produces 290hp and 366Nm of torque. Above this is the 5.7-litre V8 GT which produces 360hp and 520Nm of torque and on the top is the 6.4-litre V8 SRT engine that delivers 475hp and 637Nm of torque.

In the safety palette, Dodge has put in features such as anti-theft alarm, Dynamic Stability Control, Brake Assist (BA), EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution), ISO Fix Child Seat Anchors, Front Seatbelt pre-tensioners, Traction Control and Tyre Pressure Monitoring System.
