Skoda has plans to join the EV party and it sure looks promising. The Vision iV clears the haze about Skoda’s plans of joining the electrified bandwagon.

Other than being a bright-coloured four-door crossover coupe that has been endowed a list of 2019 must-haves, the iV is Skoda’s answer with an electric drivetrain, front and rear full-width lightbars, autonomous functionality, plus voice and gesture control.

Skoda is yet to showcase the production EV, but if the Vision iV is anything to go by, we expect the production-ready moniker to look radical, at the least. In addition to this, the iV will also be the first vehicle from the Czech manufacture to be based on Volkswagen’s MEB platform.

It will be powered by an 83-kWh lithium-ion battery good for up to 500 km in the WLTP cycle and when powering the combined output of 225 kW is good for 0-62mph in 5.9 seconds.

The Skoda Vision iV will send its power to all four wheels via two electric motors at each axle. The flat lithium-ion battery pack is integrated into its underbody and is expected to deliver 500km according to WLTP cycle.

Yes, concept are of course full of futuristic details that rarely make it to production. The Vision iV is no different, sitting on bold 22-inch wheels and illuminated grille.

On the inside, Skoda has chosen minimalism over while not losing out on futurism. This definitely proves that the manufacturer is not hesitant to step out of its comfort zone to keep up with the times.

The Vision iV comes as a part of Skoda’s plans of launching as much as 10 electrified models by the end of 2022.
