BMW has confirmed that its 2018 i8 Roadster will go on sale in the middle of next year. More images of the car have been launched. The i8 Roadster looks very similar to the Coupe model. The i8 is one of the most striking looking cars that we’ve seen.

BMW has also made a few changes in the power figures of the i8 Roadster. Its electric motor is going to produce a total of 143PS of power. This must be because BMW has increased the battery capacity from 7.1kWh to 11.6 kWh. Then there’s the 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine that has been tuned to churn out 231PS of max power and generate 320Nm of peak torque. So, the i8 Roadster will provide 374PS of combined power at your disposal.

The main feature of the BMW i8 Roadster is its open roof. It makes thing more interesting and fun. BMW claims that the roof of the new Roadster is capable of fully opening itself in just 16 seconds, and it can do that while the car is on the move up to a speed of 50kph. It is made up of a special kind of all-weather fabric which also keeps the noise level inside the cabin as low as possible.

The new images of the BMW i8 Roadster show the final production model and we don’t think BMW would make any changes to it now. So, you can consider these images as to be as good as a new Roadster in flesh. BMW has not declared price of the Roadster yet. We’ll keep you guys posted about it.
